In this 2 part sewing class, we will cover: finishing seams using a serger and other clean finishing techniques inserting elastic, and working with a commercial pattern—oh my! Depending on the fabric you choose, your Bow Boxers could be your favorite flowy pair to dress up and wear out, or snuggly bottoms for lounging between the sheets- ooo Lala!

We will be using the Bow Boxers Shorts pattern from Matchy Matchy patterns and the
PDF is FREE with your registration. The pattern comes in sizes XXS- 6XL and includes both mid rise and high rise, as well as both with a 3" (8 cm) and 5" (13 cm) inseam - Because we love options!

LATE
It is strongly advised to arrive early. We will need to start promptly and use every minute of our time together to ensure smooth instruction and completion of the project. The group will move through all instructions and steps at the same time. This is not a drop-in style class.

If a student arrives more than 5 minutes late, it is at the discretion of the instructor whether they can join. If a student arrives 10 minutes late, they forfeit their registration fee and space in the class.

If you suspect you will be late, contact info@homeecnyc.com so we know you're on the way and don't assume you are a no-show.

CANCEL

Class fees are non-refundable.
If you cancel 14 days before the workshop, you can use the credit towards a future workshop or private lesson with Hillary if booked within 60 days of the original class.

If you cancel 7 or fewer days before the event, you will not receive a credit.

It's strongly advised that if you need to cancel within 7 days of the event to gift your place in the class to a friend.

MATERIALS
It is up to the instructor's discretion if the materials brought by the student are appropriate for the project. If a student brings the incorrect materials or forgets them, they can purchase provided materials at the time of class.

LIABILITY
I understand that by participating in this class or workshop, I will be in an environment where various equipment, including but not limited to sewing machines, steam irons, sharp tools like scissors and pins, and other crafting instruments, will be used by myself and others. The use of such tools carries an inherent risk of injury.

By attending this class or workshop, I voluntarily accept all associated risks. I confirm that I am physically capable of using the necessary equipment without the need for constant supervision. I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability form will be utilized by Hillary O'Dell, Hilandel LLC and its affiliates for any class, workshop, or event in which I participate, and it will govern my conduct and responsibilities throughout the event.

Prerequisites:

🤸‍♀️ This class requires recent sewing machine experience — this is not a learn-to-sew class. Students who have taken [Sewing 101] or a private lessons with me tend to be the most prepared, as my teaching style builds the strong foundation for all other classes. That said, if you feel confident, you know yourself best! This note is simply here to make sure you're set up to enjoy every minute — not spend it catching up or unlearning old habits. If your not sure if you meet the prerequisite - reach out I’d love to chat this over with you!

👉Note: This does not include materials or pattern printing. Materials can be purchased separately or brought from home .

What do you need to bring?

📃Printed version of the pattern. If you print at home pieces must be taped together prior to class. Alternatively you can opt to have the pattern printed on large paper and waiting for you at the studio for class. Simply add on at check out.

🧵These shorts are designed for flowy, relaxed woven fabrics that enhance its loose and comfortable silhouette. Choose fabrics with movement and softness for the best results. The amount of each item will depend on the the size you make- find this info on the chart below.

  • 100% cotton or linen woven fabric (mid/light weight voile, lawn, poplin, chambray, or other shirtings with drape) NO STRETCH, NO SYNTHETICS.

  • 100% Polyester thread in matching color

  • Elastic trim 1.5” (37 mm) wide

👉Note: If the materials brought by the student are not appropriate for the project or they forget them, students maybe able to purchase fabric and trim at the time of class.
