👗Just Wear the Damn Thing

If you've been in class with me before, you know sewing advice often skews existential. Here's the thing dude: for hours you sewed, seam ripped, pressed every last seam (correctly, we've been over this), and somehow…. it's done 😳. So why is it hanging in your closet with the tags still on 👀? There are no tags because you made it but you get the point!

It's time to show up in the things you are making! Even if the hem is a little wonky on one side…you are standing in something you made with your own f ucking hands!!!! That's not a flaw. That's a fllllllllllllllex babe!

Now the hard part: when someone says "omg I love that" (and they will) .. do NOT say "oh it's just something I threw together" or "it's a little crooked if you look closely." No no no, you look them straight in the eye and say:

Thanks, I made it 🥰

That's it. Full stop. No qualifiers. No apology tour.

Because here's what that sentence actually says: "I did this, I made this, I deserve to feel proud of myself, I deserve credit for my efforts." And what that shows to other people is that WE can do this! We can make things for the joy of it or to simply serve us functionally. You might be the reason someone tries sewing for the first time!

The more people making things like this the better, babes! Put it on, accept the compliment, and agree that you're pretty f ucking impressive, okay!
